New Year Recipe Round-Up
Hey frenn! Are you celebrating the New Year? Me too.
I usually have wonderful New Year’s plans- in my head. I very rarely seem to make them come to fruition. A few years ago I stopped trying to make fetch happen and then decided that it’s best that I cook at home.
One tradition that I am completely and totally definitely ALWAYS going to do is New Years’ traditional blackeyed peas. I actually usually do blackeyed peas, greens and rice- MANDATORY.

Black-eyed peas can sometimes take long, but I usually make them in my instant pot. My instant pot blackeyed peas were my first viral video, and with reason! They are excellent and easy. A lot of people balk at the ghee I admit it can be costly- but I usually purchase it from Aldi.

The traditional Southern meals of New Year have special meaning in the African American community:
The blackeyed peas: are for good luck.
Greens (or something green): for money.
I usually make my greens in the Instant Pot. That’s why I have sometimes thought of having two instant pots. Lucky for you- you can make greens the day before. In fact, IMO they taste better the next day. And they already taste good- so BOOM- a huge WIN WIN.
If you do plan to fry some chicken, if you recall, I chose Louisiana over Andy’s breading. Either way I’m going to eat.
My menu is as follows: Blackeyed peas, collard greens, rice (cause duh), baked turkey wings and macaroni and cheese. The recipe for the macaroni and cheese is in my cookbook- From My Kitchen To Yours.
