A slow cooker vegetable soup recipe.
French Onion Soup
Sometimes I get kind of obsessive about recipes, lol. French Onion Soup happens to be one of my obsessions. There is a restaurant in Chicago that by FAR has the best french onion soup and it’s one of my favorite dishes to get when I visit there.
I loved the french onion soup so much, I was determined to perfect it and make it my own. I quickly figured out that French Onion soup could not only get pretty complicated but it can also get kind of expensive. I was determined to make the recipe but also not break the bank but also maintain the taste. LOL that was definitely not complicated (translation: it definitely was).
I love to shop at Aldi and decided that I would get ALL of my ingredients from there. If you do not have an Aldi, I suggest going to a Trader Joes but above all- keep this recipe NONE EXPENSIVE. Sure you can get into the more fancy ingredients (it’s a french recipe after all) but there’s a down home simpler way to do everything and I’m pretty sure I mastered that.
I will suggest that you purchase soup bowls because there is a portion of this recipe that is more “individualized.” I loved that I could pop my soup bowls directly in the oven to broil and didn’t have to do a secondary process.
This recipe is perfect for a cool, snowy day.
