Product Review | JL Kraft Marinade in a Bag
I made this steak the same day I made the roasted dill potatoes and the brussell sprouts. I guess you can say I was in the mood to cook something fancy- but also not do too much at the same time. LOL
I saw this J L Kraft marinade in the store and figured I’d give it a try. I usually like to make my own steak marinade or rub . So this was a first time for me even using this product.
Because this was my first time using this product, I figured I wouldn’t add any of my own seasonings as I wanted to give it a genuine review and not have it skewed by me using my own seasonings.
I did prepare my steak the traditional way I do prepare it. First by poking holes in it to ensure that the seasonings got down INSIDE the meat. I ALSO wanted to ensure that I allowed it to marinade overnight. Now the package says “at least 30 minutes.” but if i know marinade like I know marinade- overnight is always the best.
I also brought the steak to room temperature before placing on the grill. That’s a small but critical step when grilling in general- you don’t want to place cold meat on the grill. That’s because the meat will spend more time warming up AND then more time coming to the internal temperature- which will of course will result in the meat being dry or rubbery.
Once I was done grilling (I grilled my steaks to medium my preferred internal temperature) I allowed them to rest for at least 20 minutes. Another grilling tip. You don’t want to ever cut a steak too soon off of the grill because then all of the good juices will come right out (and you want them in to contain the flavor)!
Anyway overall I give this product a 9 out of 10. I would NOT use it all the time because of the high fructose corn syrup (unhealthy) but in a pinch you can save yourself some time in grilling. The size of the bag could be problematic if you’re grilling a lot but for the two ribeyes I grilled it was a perfect fit. It was kind of nice to just place them right inside the ziplock type bag and that was it.
The steaks were very flavorful and if you’ve ever struggled getting just that right flavor for a steak this is a great cheat code for your next grilling time.
Check out the video below to see the full process of grilling the steaks using the marinade.
Have you ever tried this product? Which marinade did you use and how? I think I may want to try more!

Thank you so much for your review – I just bought the regular and mesquite flavors, so I’ll try the mesquite first. Glad to hear you did it overnight, can’t imagine 30 minutes would be enough, so that’s what I’ll do. It looks like you left a fair amount of the marinade on the steak – it looks like a paste, are my eyes correct?
What a sweet soul you sound to be – love your way !

You’re welcome! Yes, kind of pasty. Yes overnight is best (in my opinion) for a good marinade.
