Homemade Southern Peach Cobbler

How to Make Southern Peach Cobbler with Homemade Crust

Ingredients

  • 9-10 Large Fresh Peaches I used fresh GA peaches
  • 1 cup butter
  • Juice from Half a large lemon (would be approximately 2 tbsp)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves be careful this is a powerful spice
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Before Making the Peach Cobbler

  • Peel and chop the peaches leaving them in a bowl
  • Add the juice from the lemon. This gives them flavor but also keeps them from browning

On the Stovetop

  • Melt one cup of butter on medium heat
  • Add the one cup of sugar
  • Add the vanilla extract
  • Add the peaches to the pot and stir
  • Add the cinnamon and stir
  • Reduce the heat. This allows the juices of the peach to naturally release
  • Add the ground cloves
  • Stir the contents together and leave the peaches on low heat and cover.

After the crust is made

  • Add the peaches to the prepared dish
  • Add to the oven on 425 and cook for 45 min
  • The contents will be bubbling when done.
  • Enjoy hot!

Notes

Lane Peaches are very sweet so adjust the sugar content should you use any other peaches.
